Tap Talks with Renee Romine!
At the Tuesday, February 18th Tap Talk at North Water Brewing, Mrs. Renee Romine, President of Portage County NAACP will present “Our Journey for Justice,” the story of the NAACP’s national and local efforts to ensure the educational, social, and economic right of all and to eliminate racial hatred and discrimination.
According to Mrs. Romine, “I want to tell the story of the NAACP in the wider world and locally with a special emphasis on our efforts to help families overcome obstacles to building generational wealth.” Mrs. Romine, who grew up in Florida, has lived and worked in Portage County for many years and has worked tirelessly to pass on the history of our black community. We’ll hear about past and current efforts of the local NAACP chapter, and some personal stories as well.
Tap Talks was initiated by Don Schjeldahl, the creator of North Water Brewing, as a way to bring the community together for conversation about life in Kent, Kent’s history, and issues of the day that impact us all. It’s also a chance to enjoy an array of locally-brewed artisan ales and beers. Tap Talks are sponsored by Kent Historical Society and scheduled monthly at 7 pm at North Water Brewing, 101 Crain Avenue in Kent.
Those who attend will have an opportunity to get to know Renee Romine and meet and greet other members of the Portage County NAACP team.
