Tap Talks with Thomas Hatch and Edgar Boles!
At the Tuesday, April 15th Tap Talk at North Water Brewing, Thomas Hatch and Edgar Boles will tell the story of Kent’s Twin Coach Company and Lou Fageol, son and nephew of the founding brothers. Mr Fageol, one-time holder of the hydroplane speed record, was an engineer, innovator, and daredevil in car and boat racing circles in the 1950s.
Mr. Hatch, board member at Kent Historical Society and Museum, will talk about how Kent’s Twin Coach came to be the leading manufacturer of busses in the United States. Following, Mr. Boles, former board member at Western Reserve Historical Society and long-time car racing enthusiast, will tell Lou Fageol’s fascinating, not-to-be-missed story.
According to Mr. Boles, “In addition to being a world-class powerboat racer, Lou Fageol was passionate about cars and racing. His twin engine Porsche creations were among the most sensational cars ever invented. How’s that for a guy from Kent, Ohio?”
Tap Talks was initiated by Don Schjeldahl, the creator of North Water Brewing, as a way to bring the community together for conversation about life in Kent, Kent’s history, and issues of the day that impact us all. It’s also a chance to enjoy an array of locally-brewed artisan ales and beers. Tap Talks are sponsored by Kent Historical Society and scheduled monthly at 7 pm at North Water Brewing, 101 Crain Avenue in Kent.
Those who attend will have an opportunity to share personal stories about Kent in the days when Twin Coach was an important part of our community
